JAN’S WORK
Three Mediums, One Mountain
Jan Bannister works across three distinct mediums, each with its own character and pace. Layered mixed media, textured acrylic, and luminous alcohol ink may look different on the wall, but they share a single source: the color, texture, and feeling of the Colorado mountains she calls home.
mixed media
Part printmaking, part collage, part painting. Jan prints her own patterns and textures, then tears, arranges, and paints them into compositions rich with color and surface. It’s her newest body of work, and her most exploratory.
paintings
Thick, sculpted acrylic, worked with palette knives and a few unexpected tools. Here the Colorado landscape gives way to abstraction, translated into color, movement, and texture.
alcohol inks
Vibrant alcohol ink flows and pools across ceramic tile, settling into luminous washes of color. Vivid, full of mountain light, capturing the abundance of Colorado’s inspiration on the artist.
